Exploring the role of societal beliefs and norms in influencing participation of women in the labour

Join us for an engaging Zoom webinar as we examine groundbreaking research on how family beliefs and social norms shape the economic choices of young women in Jordan and Pakistan. This session will dive into lived experiences uncovered through the “Ficr Circle” method, revealing how close relatives, parents, brothers, and spouses can either support or hinder women’s participation in the labor market. Researchers will present their findings, shedding light on practical ways to develop a more inclusive and equitable economy. Together, we will discuss strategies to transform family and community mindsets, strengthen support systems, and advance women’s agency to drive gender equality in the workplace. This session is led by Hina Saleem, The Citizens Foundation and Mayyada Abu Jaber, World of Letters.
